Testimony of the Week: Victoria Ng

DSC_0942.jpgVictoria is a third year studying chemical engineering. She enjoys God, music, and doing homework while lying on the couch. She apologizes in advance for terrible memory and for writing that probably has not improved since age 10.

Praise the Lord, for He has had great mercy on me! God graciously placed me in a church-going family since birth. By “church-going,” I mean going to church every Sunday and nothing more – no prayer, Bible reading, or conversations about spiritual matters at home. But it also meant I was exposed to the gospel from a very young age and continued to hear it often on Sundays. I don’t think I ever doubted what I was taught in church as a child, but my understanding was shallow and I did not apply it to my life.  Knowing the Gospel did not cause me to turn from my sin. I had no desire to obey God’s word, except in an effort to earn praise from others.

Stay Awake

written by Geo Ng

You stayed up late the night before. The professor turns off the lights and turns on the PowerPoint.  But his only power is to point you to the wonderful world of unconscious dreamland.

You wake up from your dream of butterflies and ninjas. What? Five minutes passed? Alright, no more falling asleep.

Testimony of the Week: Alyssa Chan

Alyssa Chan.jpgAlyssa is a first year Physiological science major whose hobbies include collecting stationery, doing crafts, and playing soccer.  She also enjoys eating ice cream and going on boba runs.

God has blessed me tremendously throughout my entire life—none of my words or praises could ever amount to the glory and honor He deserves. Nonetheless, I am so thankful for His sovereign hand and providence!  I was born and raised in a Christian family, and I was even more blessed to attend a Christian school for thirteen years.  Looking back, I believe God placed these little details in my life for a specific reason: to redeem a soul lost to sin by the power of His love and grace.

Testimony of the Week: Will Fong

Will Fong.jpgWill is a Sophomore Materials Science & Engineering major. He has a tendency to pick up endless amounts of hobbies; most recently getting interested in drawing, knitting and raw denim and currently on the hunt to find a shoe that can accommodate his wonky left foot.

I was raised in a Christian home and went to church all my life. Through my time at church as a child, I passively accepted the teachings of Jesus, but they didn’t affect my life beyond the fact that I believed the Bible gave a bunch of rules that I should follow. So I attempted to fight my sin and read the Bible by my own power and of course I failed. Eventually, at the end of my junior year of high school I realized that my life didn’t reflect that of a born again Christian. I didn’t love God or hate sin. I was indifferent to both and was ready to walk away from the faith. Thankfully, a friend of mine who truly cared about my soul implored me to keep looking for God and since I had to keep going to church so my parents wouldn’t know about my unbelief, I figured, why not try to find some faith. And that’s the mentality I had going into GOC — let’s find some faith.
